How long have you been in business?
We opened our Etsy Shop on September 8, 2013. My husband has been creating in his full service woodworking shop for over 40 years.
How long do custom orders take?
Since each custom order is unique, the estimated time from start to finish will depend on signing off on the approved design, the complexity of the project, as well as the finishing request. There is no set time for any given custom project.
What makes each piece unique?
Wood, by nature, is going to have variations in and on the surface including grain, knots and uneven coloring and you will see them as darker spots or character markings. These are NOT defects but rather just a natural part of working with wood. As you carve into the wood, these character markings will be highlighted. No two pieces are identical making each piece a one-of-a-kind!
What kinds of wood do you work with?
Our standard solid wood options are: Ash, Cherry, Hickory, Maple, Walnut, and White Oak.
Other woods species are available upon request.
The best wood species will be offered for each particular wood carving offered. On custom orders, we will recommend a wood species for you for the best end result for your project. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding your wood options.
What stain finishes do you offer?
For the majority of our work, we us Zar Stain, General Finishes, and to some degree, Minwax stain.
If you are purchasing one of our products and you want a different wood/stain/finish combination, please contact us and we will be more than happy to send you the stain charts and together we will find the right wood/stain/finish combination for the wood carving you want to purchase.
How will my piece be finished?
We use a variety of finishes; polyurethane gloss, semi-gloss, and satin/matte finish. We also use food-grade depending on the type of project we are working on.
Can I personalize any of the wood items?
Yes. If you like an existing listing but you want to personalize it, just fill our contact form.
Indicate which piece you are interested in personalizing and provide us with your information. We will send you CAD renderings (pictures) for your approval. Please indicate which personalized engraving goes on the front and what goes on the back of the wood carving.
All personalized engravings are provided “at no charge.” We do not accept returns on personalized items unless we have made an error. Please proof read carefully as we will engrave EXACTLY what you type for your custom/personalized engraving.
Can I build a custom project around a specific budget?
Yes, we try to create pieces to fit everybody’s budget. However, if you find a piece that you really love but cannot afford the piece as it is listed; please do not hesitate to contact us directly via our contact form and we will do our best to create a piece within your budget. Our goal is to make affordable, unique, wood gifts.
What determines the cost of a wood carving?
The cost of each part is directly related to the size and detail of the wood carving and the wood species used in that wood item. Each piece is hand sanded, hand finished, and checked for quality prior to shipping.
How do I request a custom wood carving?
Please contact me directly for any questions and/or requests regarding our custom wood carving services by filling out our contact form completely. Most inquiries are answered within one business day.
What is the refund policy?
DAMAGED items during the delivery process:
The buyer must send pictures of the damaged box and item as all of our items are insured. Once I receive the pictures, we will replace your item at no charge including the shipping charged.
RETURN policy for NON-CUSTOM orders:
We gladly accept returned of non-custom orders as we understand that you are purchasing an item based off a photo. If you decide, after receiving your non-custom order, you want to return it there is a process to do that. The buyer is responsible for the cost of the return shipping. Once we receive the item in the same condition it was sent out, we will immediately refund your money.
RETURN policy for CUSTOM ORDERS:
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I cannot accept returns for CUSTOM or PERSONALIZED order.
